REF'S CORNER

The Middlesex refereeing squad is one of the largest in the Country containing a number of County and Tournament Grade referees, together with a few who have reached National and International level. Referees are provided for many events that take place within the County including club competitions, some Middlesex Squash League matches, all County competitions such as the Open and Closed Championships at junior, senior and all other age group levels. We also provide referees for Inter-County match weekends when these are hosted by Middlesex, for any national league matches held locally and for other SRA competitions in the area.

However, there are times when sufficient referees are not available from our active squad and we then call upon colleagues in adjoining counties, particularly Hertfordshire. Our referees similarly make themselves available to adjoining counties and if possible for England Squash events wherever they are held.

We are keen to increase our numbers and welcome those who might be interested from any age group. Anyone who wants to know more or requires any help on this subject should contact me on 01494 680446.

Detailed information on qualifying as a referee is available at the England Squash website under its Referees Section which also contains lots of other information on the subject. Although the site contains contact details of some referees (not all active refs are listed), you are recommended to contact me should refereeing assistance be required for any event.

The Rules of Squash currently operating are those issued in May 2001 and there is a link below to these as set out on the WSF site. I have few copies available on application with a suitably sized SAE and cheque for £2.50 made payable to the MSRA.

If you want to become a recognized County Referee then contact the Refereeing Secretary at referees@middlesexsquash.org.uk
